The performance Amerika America toured through the Netherlands and Flanders till the end of February 2010. It is a performance with puppets, actors, musicians and film/projections. The story takes place in the present and the past. In the past during the Twenties in the Netherlands and the USA. It is about the memories of a Dutch immigrant in the United States, his childhood memories in the Netherlands and his emigration to the USA and first years in Michigan.

Here is a small Youtube movie, that shows the Netherlands around 1920. It is amazing how poor lots of people still were in the Netherlands and in what kind of circumstances they had to live and work. The main characters in the play emigrate to the United States to find a better future.
