Apple to Grandma

© Dirk Buwalda
Josie is very
angry. Since her grandma had to move to a nursery home, she
isn't allowed anymore to stay overnight. When grandma was still
living in her own beautiful house they used to pick apples and
Josie could bring them to the attic for her. Josie decides to
make a beautiful painting for her grandma and to bring her an
apple from the old apple tree, their favorite place.
Speeltheater Holland developed this play in 1996,
inspired by children's drawings. A giant sketchbook and pencil
and drawings that come alive are the ingredients of this play,
full of imagination and humor.
It toured around Holland and Flanders and other countries in
Europe for several years. In 1997 it had a successful run on the
Sundance Festival in Utah.
In 2000 the
artistic team of Speeltheater Holland created the performance
Apple to Grandma for the
Seattle Children's Theatre . This
was the fourth time they worked together with this renowned
theatre for the youth in the USA.
