Glittra's Mission (Nanna SOS Nanna!)

An exciting show about guardian angels, dangerous keys and a very inquisitive boy

Always thought that angels fluttered around in the clouds, all rosy and smiling sweetly? Think again! An angel has to work hard for its position among the stars up high in the sky. Particularly guardian angel Glittra has to work overtime, protecting Martin. This youngster loves Great Danger and he believes that every key conceals its own secret. Up until now, Glittra has succeeded in preventing disasters. Up until now… because just as she’s taking a short break, everything threatens to go very wrong.

The performance is an exciting lesson called ‘Angel’, in which the teacher, Mrs. Smith tells the story of Glittra and Martin expressively and at full speed. She gives the public an extensive view in the heavenly tricks of a guardian angel. Mrs. Smith is assisted by Mr. Smith who has been studying Eternity for ages. He illustrates the lesson with beautiful models, images and sounds.

Glittra's Mission is an adaptation of the children’s book ‘Glittra’s Uppdrag’ by the Swedish author Peter Pohl. The performance is played by two actors, puppets and cut-out illustrations made by the German illustrator Jacky Gleich.

The play had a successful run in the Netherlands and Flanders (title: Nanna SOS Nanna) and is presented in the USA in February, March 2005 for the Seattle Children's Theatre.

* The music in Glittra's Mission: we do get a lot of questions about the music we use in the show, especially the classical piece in the beginning and end:
Well, it's not Gregorian, as a lot of people think. It's a part of 'Nisi Dominus', the performer is James Bowman, a countertenor and it is composed by Antonio Vivaldi.
