Now playing: ADIOS 6+ READ Reviews
A lady, old and grey, is sitting by the fire, daydreaming. Her little dog sits on her lap. Outdoors, an old apple tree creaks in the wind. While she pours a cup of tea, her thoughts stray. The little dog barks when a miniscule man creeps out of the teapot. Birds fly over the wallpaper and a pair of pajamas asks her to dance. Gradually, the room reveals a lost world… ‘Adios’ is a musical theatre, without words, for all aged 8 and over. Actors bring a poetic world to life using masks, puppets and film projections. Two musicians make music using anything that can make noise and create unique, wondrous soundscapes with their compositions. Together, actors and music recount a moving story about love and goodbyes. Speeltheater Holland has been making unique and successful youth theatre performances for more than thirty years. For this performance, Speeltheater Holland is taking Het Houten Huis under its wings. Het Houten Huis is a brand-new theatre company consisting of director/actress Elien van den Hoek and a fixed group of actors, theatre-makers, musicians and designers. They make visual (location) theatre for youths and adults, that stands out with its absurd, poetic style. Music and physical acting together portray the inner world. The fact that the performance ‘Adios’ is made without words makes it extremely suitable for non-Dutch-language countries. Adios was very well received by the press and public:
'Adios is touching and comforting, inventive and poetic'
